Photographer's Note

We're not talking about a public house but about a castle or even palace instead.
The river is Inn, only a few kilometers before its confluence with the Danube at Passau.
Neuhaus Castle was intended to protect the Inn bridge from Neuhaus/Bavaria to Schärding/Austria and later converted into a rococo palace. It is now the homestead of a school.

The black birds with their white foreheads are called coots, in German: Blässhuhn.
