Muskau Palace is located in the Fürst-Pückler-Park. The park extends on both sides of the German-Polish border .
It is located in an extended park, the Muskau Park, since July 2004 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
All park buildings are located on the German side in the town Bad Muskau. The park covers 3.5 square kilometers (860 acres) of land in Poland and 2.1 km2 (520 acres) in Germany.
The origins of the castle Muskau date back to 16th century. The first Renaissance-style castle was built in the years 1520-1530.
The eccentric Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau rebuilt the castle in such a way that it fit into the park, which he founded in the early 19th century.
