Photographer's Note
Actually the name of this castle is "Neukatzenelnbogen" ( New ...) but people shortened it to "Castle Katz". It towers the small town St. Goarshausen in Upper Middle Rhine Valley - a World Heritage Site of UNESCO. The castle was built from 1360 to 1371. Castle Katz, besides political purposes, was one of the many toll castles along the banks of Rhine river and it contributed to the count's of Katzenelnbogen unmeasurable wealth.
When the dynasty of Katzenelnbogen died out in 1479 a very eventful history began for the castle. In 1806 it was blown up by troops of Napoleon. Today Castle Katz is in Japanese private property ...
It is traceable that the counts of Katzenelnbogen here - in the gardens of Castle Katz - for the first time planted the famous grape-vine "Riesling" in 1435. Besides Chardonnay, Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) and Sauvignon Riesling still today is the most important genuine white wine of the world.
In the background straight above the castle you can see 120 m high Loreley rock, one of the most known and visited German landmarks. Here there is the most narrow bottleneck of Rhine river (113 m broad, 25 meters deep). Please look here.

Bonjour Frank,
Très belle composition avec une vue plongeante mettant bien en valeur le sujet finement détaillé et harmonieusement coloré malgré, me semble-t-il, une légère surexposition sur le fleuve.
A bientôt sur TE pour de nouvelles aventures.

Frank,
Great POV for this shot! I have a couple of shots of this castle from river level, but I wont post them today ;) It seems that our summer vacations were along the same path so I guess we will be posting similar shots for a while.
Your composition is nice here using the mountain slope to create a nice diagonal through the shot dividing the photo into two distinct parts. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Hello Frank,
Very spectacular is this series. Magnificently took the bend and bends of river Rhine. The wide perspective, the strange reflected light from the current of river, splendid panorama with castle Katz. Nicely you fited the depth of the sharpness, splendidly well-chosen POV.

Hi Frank,
The POV is superb and you surely took good profit of it to get a stunning image. I like how the curve of the river and the game of sun and shadow makes the castle stand out.
Regards, José.

Hallo lieber Frank,
Wann kommt "der Maus" ? Aus diesem Blickwinkel sehe ich's das erste mal. Wo fuhr eigentlich der Lufthansa Bahn (am rechten oder linken Ufer) ?
Schoene Notizen wie immer.

Hello Frank,
I like the point of view showing the castle in this beautiful location on the hilltop by the river!
A well composed presentation, where the winding river makes a strong element...
I notice the very strategic location for toll collection!

Hi Frank!!
what a fantastic scene!! Castles are in dominating places everywhere, and this one must enjoy an extraordinary view. And also you did! Having so a good POV to put the shady castle in its sunny surroundings.
Very well done! And well captured also the boats inthe river.

Salut Frank,
