Photographer's Note

Last weekend I visited the small town Burgdorf not far away north-east from Hanover (In German: Hannover) with its beautiful Old Town. Burgdorf today has about 30000 inhabitants. It first was mentioned in 1279 and during the centuries it was afflicted by several serious fires.
It's interesting that some of these devastating fires were caused bei mass cremations during the Thirty Years' War and during the times of pestilence - often commanded by ruthless military. In 1632 nearly the whole town thus was destroyed by fire and only some houses could be saved from the flames. One of them you can see in my photo. It probably was built at the beginning of the 17th century and today it houses a beautiful rustic and quaint tavern.
With regard to some of the beams I assure that there's no tilt at all in the photo! ;-)
