Photographer's Note
This is the organ of the magnificent baroque church St. Paulin in Trier (Treves). Particulars about this church you can read here. This organ was accomplished in 1756. The organ front traces back to the masterbuilder of this church, Johann Balthasar Neumann (1687 - 1753).
He was a German military engineer and achitect. Starting an engineer's career then only was possible in military service and in 1717/1718 he probably took part in the construction of the fortifications of Belgrade. In Vienna and later on in Milan he became acquaited with Baroque architecture. In 1719 the prince-bishop of Würzburg appointed him building director. In 1720 Neumann undertook the task of building the world famous Würzburg residence with its incredible staircase.
He developed a refined brand of Baroque architecture, fusing Austrian, Bohemian, Italian, and French elements and during his life he designed some of the most impressive buildings of the period.
Neumann regarded especially the interior of the church St. Paulin in Trier as an overall work of art.
What a career - from the fortifications of Belgrade to this organ.

Hi Frank,
This organ is not only a musical instrument, but also a very valuable piece of art. One can say this this instrument should satisfy both the ears and the eyes. We can see it here but how does it sound? Impressive contribution, in many ways.

Perfect photo - all the attention is on the organ and surroundings are white-washed and don't draw any attention.
Very interesting note about this guy, really unusual career.
Greetings!

Hello Frank,
This is a fine interior with focus on the beautiful organ!
I guess it is hard to find instruments that are more visually impressive, they are like a piece of art in their own right...
A well composed presentation, impressive details!
Greetings,

Wow - having just posted a photo of an organ is Scotland - this one is so different.
I like the feeling of light and airiness here. It looked an awkward shot to get right with all the different light and shadow.

Guten tag, dear Frank,
Amicalement a toi,
