Photographer's Note
I'm very proud to introduce to all you the oldest house of Chalkis! :)
The photographing of this house is very hard because the house located at a very very narrow alley with ugly house apartments all over and often, cars parked outside it! On the other hand, the house infront of it hides the sun and you must be there a few minutes before the sunset to take a photo with good lighting condition.
This house is over 2 centuries old. I don't extactly it's history. Rumors said that this house owned from a very rich Turk bey or another turk important people when the town was under turkish occupation (before 1832 when the town and the complete island of Evia liberated from Turks) and after the liberation passed to a rich Chalkis citizen.
Now, this glorious house and one of the sights of Chalkis it's entirely abandoned and it's a shame that the authorities of the city doesn't something to save it! :(

Good capture of the mixed cultures at a time. We do have here the same houses with the same architecture style naturally and unfortunately most of them are under the same conditions. RUINED... This is a good shot Mpampis and I exactly know the shooting conditions of such. The only point boders me (not that much actually) the color and he pattern of the sky.
Thanks for sharing...

Mpampi this is the truth about so many places in Greece, meaning if a building is not ancient or if it does not hold any significant historical value, it will be abandoned and lost. Too many old buildings I am afraid to save all of them.

Hi Mpampis,
I find the construction of the house fantastic, because of the wood with the curving, also the colours and the sharpness and the clarity are splendid.
Thanks for visiting,
John

This one is really great. The mixture of stone, brick, wood and cob is extraordinary. It was well worth waiting for the right light and time. A picture like this just make me want to travel to see the place by my self.

Kalimera Mpampis,
Nice photo showing an interesting architecture and sad story about the house, there should definitely be some patrimony preservation project to save these remains !
Have a nice day,

A very original sight, a clearness, a beautiful light, an interesting point of view, the discovery of the methods of construction, it is a very well done photograph. And really damage to leave it with the abandonment!
