ENG:Eretria was a polis in Ancient Greece, located on the western coast of the island of Euboea, south of Chalcis, facing the coast of Attica across the narrow Euboean Gulf. Eretria was an important Greek polis in the 6th/5th century BC. However, it lost its importance in antiquity. Excavations of the ancient city began in the 1890s and have been conducted since 1964 by the Greek Archaeological Service and the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece.Today, there is a modern Greek town of the same name on the ancient site.The modern town of Eretria was established in 1824, after Greek independence, and is now a popular beachside resort. The historic and archaeological finds from Eretria and Lefkandi are displayed in the Eretria Museum, established by the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece.The town can be reached from Skala Oropou, Attica by ferryboat or via Halkida by road. It's an important station on the way to the south of the island. It has many taverns and a long beach promenade. The archaeological excavations are located on the northern edge of the modern town.The municipality Eretria was formed at the 2011 local government reform by the merger of the following 2 former municipalities, that became municipal units:Amarynthos,Eretria

The photograp is sharp and bright.
The colours are amply saturated and the waters in the foreground which is in perfect focus, shows excellent depth.
The boat / trawler with the nets and the coloured containers used as buoys has been vividly captured.
Perhaps I would have prefered not to have the corners darkened (vignetting), but thats only a personal openion.

Hello Chris,
A nice boat, well presented with an interesting tone of the colours and good contrasts. I think maybe that the cropping is rather tight. The boat looks a bit locked inside the frame.

This is a typical fishing boat around here with its identical design and tradition. Good that the subject matter is so well treated in sharp focus with some nice vivid colors to add the general beauty. Above all I like the contrast to dark water making it stands out in stark contrast. This is fine close up work full of local flavour. Congrats, TFS

there are 3 things i really like about this photo.
First, seeing the blackness of the water is really cool, the boat itself is a wonderful subject, and how the corners of the frame are darkened at the top, very nice effect.
