Photographer's Note

This is neither a spectacular picture nor a sad documentary, it has nothing to do with historic events or great achievements, it hasn't got to do with action, facts or emotions either. It's just a couple of refugees spending an idle afternoon and reflecting on past, present and future on the quay of Lakki. Apparently a still scene but a fleeting moment really.

Hello Ourania,
I hope that at least for that moment the two refugees could feel peace of mind enough to admire the view and appreciate the beauty of it. For us they become a part of the composition, two persons well placed in the foreground to help us appreciate the depth of the photo and the complementary colours of their clothes.

Comme il doit être agréable de faire comme les personnes assises et regarder le voilier rentrer au port à petite vitesse profitant d'un moment où la lumière caresse la ville côtière.

The three poles work well on the scene, framing the curve on the promenade like a balcony.
I can tell this couple are refugees from Syria, have a calm moment at Leros, beautiful bay scenery.

Beautiful view of the calm water, the sailboats and the houses against the slopes on the other side of the water. The warm evening summer light is lovely. You included the couple enjoying the tranquility here very well in the right hand foreground.

who knows what is really on the minds of these two refugees, but for the moment anyhow they appear to be at peace. Reflective for sure, but peaceful. you captured that mood well. I like how we see what they're seeing. cheers

Hello Ourania,

I like the tight framing on the poles which segment the main image into several distinct picture frames. Good sharpness and a nice view of the harbour. Nice reflections & the refugee couple animate the scene. Tfs!
