Photographer's Note
Stefanos Crater (Volcanic Valley - Nisyros Island -Greece.
Volcano of Nisyros
The volcano of Nisyros, along with Methana, Milos and Santorini, is among the active volcanoes of our country. All of these volcanic centers are located in an imaginary arc that starts from Corinth and ends up in Nisyros. This area is called the "active volcanic arc of the southern Aegean".
The volcano of Nisyros is located in the village of Nikia and is the most important attraction of the island. It has a total of five craters with a larger "Stephen", 260 meters in diameter and 30 meters deep. The five craters of the volcano form the Lakki plateau, created by the volcano eruption in 1552. The last crater of the volcano, "Mikro Polyvotis", was created in 1887, when the last - so far - hydrothermal explosion volcano.
The volcano of Nisyros is considered active and because of its easy access to its craters, it is visited by thousands of people every year, as well as by special scientists. All you have to keep in mind if you are going to get off the bottom of the volcano is the closed shoe. The smell of sulphur can be intense (it smells like a clown egg) but it is a unique experience that every visitor of the island must live on.

We raelly do not know how the land looks om Mars, but it is a strange feeling to stand in the middle of an ancient crater, Danos.
Exceptional subject, nicely rendered on photo, the "walls of the caldera beautifully shown.

Hello Danos,
A great photo of this impressive crater landscape. The shapes of the earth and the patches of yellow make this a very interesting and appealing photo. The sunlight and blue sky were the perfect circumstances too.

Hi Danos
I will have to look up exactly where Nisyros is. The yellow bands of sulphur are clearly visible in the rock strata of the crater wall, and the fumarole holes are obvious in the fg. Tfs! Found it. It's over near Kos.

Hello Danos,
What a strange and stunning scenery. I have never been to a place like this, and considering the smell I can live without it. But the shapes and colours of the crater are stunning and you have captured this view with excellent light and contrasts.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Danos,
J'aime beaucoup le point de vue très bas de cette composition, ce qui donne une texture très spéciale au sol comme si c'était du liquide. J'aime beaucoup le rendu des couleurs.
Amicalement

Hi Danos
An inspiring lunar-like landscape from another planets! this land depression shows its wonderful perspective and stretched depth with close viewpoint from which to exaggerate the land features. I love the tones and deep colour along with wonderful bit of the 'triangle' in the background and what a contrast to deep blue sky. I would say that it's a dramatic scene and different, you don't get the chance to capture so close to this incredible natural ocurrence.
The pits are reminding us that volcano never sleeps....
Wonderful shot also great description, Congrats
Best wishes

Hello danos ,
A stunning volcanic landscape . Superb contrast with the polarized blue sky .
With a people , one could have an idea of the scale , but it would be wrong for your title...

Hello Danos,
Wow, what an unusual view!
There aren't that many opportunities to be somewhere in the inside of a crater.
Fantastic colours.
And nobody else to see there.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Danos,
this is so beautiful! I like very much the yellow touch of the sulfur deposits in the volcano.
Fantastic otherworldly scenery indeed! I don't recall hearing about this volcano before and I have certainly not seen a photo from this place. Thanks for sharing it.
The colors are truly amazing I can't believe it is in Europe.
The sky was lovely as well with the two clouds adding a nice touch.
Spectacular location and a great presentation!

Oi, Danos!
Foto muito boa desse lugar, a nitidez é tão fantástica quanto as cores. Os buracos no chão são detalhes curiosos. O escuro azul do céu é lindo. Boa luz também.
Parabéns!
