The prefecture of Kavala is situated between the rivers Nestos and Strymon, which are also natural limits achievements.The stance by the sea and over the route that linked East and West, makes it a hub of communication between peoples and cultures. Has an area of 2109 tchlm. And bordered by the prefectures of Xanthi (East), Drama (north) and Serres (west).
Kavala is built on a granite soil. In the prefecture there are deposits of peat, iron ore, oil and marble.

The city's history begins in the 7th BC century with the name as a colony of Neapolis Thassios. Later, as the port city of Philippi flourished during times of Makedonikoy rule of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. In the 8th century. is known as Christoupolis and after intense adventures and games at the time of the Crusades, appears again around 1500 AD with its current name and evolves rapidly to major port, especially after the Asia Minor disaster.
The 20th century building is situated in Kavala golden era. From 1903 until 1909 the Greek inhabitants, with high national morale, take part in Makedoniko match. The flourishing commerce of tobacco and population growth have resulted in the creation of broad working class organized in powerful trade unions vigorously asserting its claims.
Kavala is now one of the largest (about 80,000 inhabitants), at Thessaloniki, cities in Northern Greece. It is built on two hills on the slopes of the mountain range ''symbol''.
It is the city that many people rank among the most beautiful and picturesque of our country because of its unique character, its privileged location which was built and the warm and friendly atmosphere.
