Photographer's Note

A shot taken from Fira, the capital of Santorini.
I don't think it's not necessary I present this sight, it speaks for itself.
I consider lucky to have seen such a panorama with my own eyes and if I can communicate a little this pleasure and this dream I realized then I will be delighted.

A shot I dedicate to Giorgio.

Penso che non ho bisogno di presentare questa vista...
Mi sento fortunata di avere visto questo panorama con i miei propri occhi e si posso communicare un po' questo piacere e questo sogno che ho realizzato allora sarò molto contenta.

Une très belle image de la Grêce. La lumière de la fin de journée donne une belle atmosphère à l'ensemble. Le point de vue est parfait.

The Santorini landscapes are well known here on TE, but what I appreciate most about this picture are the smaller details, not visible from a panoramic view. For example the star at the base of the cross and the cross itself, highlighted by the bright sky colors. The ship in the BG emphasizes the touristic meaning of Santorini.

coucou,
le miracle du 10-22 ( et de la personne qui sait s'en servir!)
on pourrait dire que la meteo n'etait pas tres "touristique" mais je crois que c'est une chance pour les photographe.
Une prise qui rend tres bien l'impression qu'on a "en vrai".J'ai eu la chance de la voir de mes propres yeux mais ta photo me donne envie d'y retourner car je n'ai pas d'aussi belles photos (oui,oui, je suis jalouse!!)

I like your work, not only for showing such a nice view, but also because you managed to squeeze such a wide dynamic range without losing details in highlights and shadows, and because the picture looks very natural. My father visited Santorini once, no wonder he was impress with its beauty.
I've got a technical question. Did you use grey gradual filter?

Ouais, pas dégueu comme panorama. J'aime beaucoup le cadrage grand angle (et il fallait bien un grand angle pour avaler tout ce panorama !) et l'effet du contre-jour sur la mer.

Bonjour Magali,

Oui c'est vraiment un rêve. Je pensais (à tort) que Santorini était une île huppée, mais je constate avec tes photos et celle de timecapturer, que Santorini possède de nombreux villages d'une beauté exceptionnelle. Et je me suis promis d'y faire un séjour lors d'un prochain voyage en Grèce, c'est aussi ça la magie de TE.

Non seulement c'est un paysage de rêve, mais tu as aussi très bien réussi à nous le transmettre par un super cadrage et lumières.

Salut Magali,
ah ben oui je te confirme que tu as réussi ton coup! Quelle vue hallucinante! Une de mes prochaines destinations à coup sûr!
L'usage du grand angle donne une super impression d'espace et la lumière est superbe. Les contrastes sont bien gérés, ce qui n'a pas du être facile vu les différences de luminosité. C'est vrai que je serais curieux de voir ce que ça donne avec un filtre dégradé...je ne sais pas ce que tu as mais Cokin fait des trucs pas mal pour pas trop cher. J'ai un support spécial grand angle pour mon 10-20 qui me permet de descendre jusqu'à 12mm...
Bref, je pourrais scotcher un bon moment sur cette photo...

i contenti siamo noi che possiamo ammirare questa stupenda foto. Una immagine con la quale sei riuscita a comunicare perfettamente le tue sensazioni di fronte a questo panorama. Tecnicamente, la foto ha molti pregi, non solamente per la perfetta nitidezza e le morbide tonalità di colore, ma soprattutto per come hai gestito il riflesso del sole sul mare, quasi un controluce, senza sovraesposizioni. Un particolare applauso va anche alla profondità, che porta l'occhio a perdersi nell'infinito, dove il cielo e il mare diventano un unico colore. La bellezza della Grecia sicuramente aiuta a fare belle foto, ma bisogna essere anche bravi fotografi per catturare bene questa bellezza. Tu sei brava.

Bonjour Magali,

Tu prends goût aux compositions en grand angle a ce que je vois. Tu vas voir, tu vas l'utiliser de plus en plus. Une belle sensation d'espace et de profondeur.
Tu as un poil de distortion en barillet sur la ligne d horizon. Bon, en entre dans le detail et je ne suis pas sur que beaucoup de gens le voient ou y prete attention, mais ca se corrige assez bien en post-traitement. En photo marine, avec mon 17-40, je suis amené a faire souvent ce type de correction.

A classic postcard pov, but this shot is just so perfectly executed that it does get that "wow" feeling here. Brilliant wide angle and - above all - what a superb capture of light. Also the presence of that one person in the frame is a definte plus, imho. Thumbs up from me!

Oui, franchement; c'est un petit paradis qui se déploie sous nos yeux, photo après photo... Je comprends d'autant mieux ta joie bondissante avant le départ, en les découvrant!
Ici, j'aime beaucoup ces teintées grisées à l'arrière plan; délicates comme un poème soufflé par le vent. Le POV même semble gonfler nos poumons d'air pur et la silhouette de l'église présider à l'harmonie du paysage, avec sa croix dressée comme une baguette magique pour ordonner tout ça. Vraiment charmant, et encore; je n'ai pas encore entendu la cloche!... Heu... Il y a bien une cloche, non?!

Splendid high vantage point shot with strong impact, the shine on the water is a great draw to the eyes as effective focal of point, its so superb in subtle light and limited color pallette. Beautiful landscape, good composition with the church dome stunningly dominating framed by those white wash houses sloping down to far mid foreground. A trade mark of Mediterranean Greece. I like the background which gives a sense of depth and the dark grey sky adds the mood and special charm overall. This is indeed gorgeous! Well done, Congrats
