Photographer's Note
Virgin of the rock monastery is one with the rocks.
Descending the 298 stairs and going to Virgin's cave, someone can see a lot of this kind of constructions at the end of the rocks. The whole sight from these 'balconies' are majestic.
Virgin of the rock Cave.
Above the rock-hill of Panagia lies the Cave of the Virgin of the Rock. A "two-storey" cave downstairs which is built the ancient hermitage-chapel dedicated to Our Lady 'rock'. The upper floor, used as a pantry, etc., but also as a shelter for local residents during the difficult period of Ottoman rule. Both levels of the cave have been explored.
The monastery was built in Tarsus on rocks like Meteora and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The temple of Monastery built the same time as the Monastery of St. George (14th century) in a cleft of the rock, always open to the traveller who wants to enjoy the wonderful views to the Ziria, especially winter afternoons.

Hello Danos,
It's a breathtaking view of the monastery on the steep mountainside seen from below. The overhanging buildings look amazing from this angle. The contrasts of green, brown and grey are very attractive and so is the diagonal accent of the composition. The photo is perfectly exposed.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Danos,
I could hardly believe my eyes when I opened your photograph!
The buildings look so precariously balanced!
I like how you have not only given us this amazing view of the rocks and the overhanging buildings but have also, composed the scene very well.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Danos,
What an exceptional place to build a monastery.
The view upwards is stunning and the upper constructions seem to balance on the edge of the cliff.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Danos
Quite alluring in my eyes how this was built then - and hard to imagine really, and thanks to your description. It's superbly captured looking up from a well considered viewpoint with lots of interest around especially the crisp textured of the steep cliff and nice bit of colour breaker and foliage. Interesting that this has stood the test of time and fascinating to think it was being used so long ago! A very interesting subject matter well captured and tfs, Congrats.
Best regards

Hello Danos,
An impressive view up the steep and tall cliffs, the monastery hidden inside the rocks and the building hanging over the edge of the cliff are some pretty remarkable features here. Very well captured in a good composition.

Hello Danos
You choose a fascinating point of view for this spectacular picture. Close to the foot of the rock and the camera straight upwards.
And all in bright colours and good sharpness
Excellent work

Hello, Danos!
Impressive view of that house up there that seems to be about to fall! I think many people wouldn't enter the house after seeing this image! The POV is perfect to show this interesting and beautiful place! Very good job!

Hi Danos
thats quite the dramatic view from down here looking UP. the best part is that very top portion hanging over the edge. its amazing to know they have caves and homes in the rock, so imaginative and creative. cool views from here, well worthy of the post. cheers

I saw some similar in meteora. but here the caves and the rock are different and they found an horizontal gap and covered with timber as façade. very interesting.
take care

Found one photo I missed Danos.
Extraordinary sight of the wooden (protective) balconies at the entrance to the cavesw.
View upwards show beautifully the contourlines of the sheer cliff, ideal for hiding in old times.
Fine view upwards, shaded area well handled.
Kalispera,
Ike
