The Messologi Lagoon
The Messologi Lagoon (Greek: Λιμνοθάλασσα Μεσολογγίου, is a shallow lagoon located in the south of Aetolia-Acarnania, Western Greece. It is connected to the Gulf of Patras, a bay of the Ionian Sea. Its length is approximately 15 to 20 km along with its width, its shape resembles a triangle.
The deepest depth is 5 to 6 m, other than the largest part in which its depths does not pass over half a metre and it contains seaweeds. Several islands surround the lagoon Near to the coasts, the depth is only 10 cm and it is a swampy area that a part of it is land. It features fishes. Strabo called the lake Kynia.
Near the lagoon is the Aitoliko Lagoon to the north. Together they form the Missolonghi–Aitoliko Lagoons complex.
The lagoon was partly drained in the 20th century especially in the western portion in which a part of the land extended southward with farmlands and dikes. The island of Aitoliko or sometimes the peninsula extended by 15 km and 200 m making it the longest extension, the eastern half became a canal and it resembles as a dike.

Hello Danos,
Tranquillity and serenity is what comes to my mind when I look at this landscape.
The inclusion of the bank of the lagoon on the foreground gives much depth to the picture.
Beautiful natural colours and splendid reflections.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Danos,
Marvelous picture of this lagoon, it is so clear, the water is very calm providing the perfect mirror. Lovely blue colour of the sky and water. 5-6 m is not specially deep for such a big lake. Why in so many places the lakes were drained? It was easy to do , very difficult to recover.
But is this not a place nearby where Lord Byron died in 1824?
Kind regrad s MAlgo

Wow, the water of the lake is so calm, it reflects the mountains on the other side so beautifully. I love the peaceful and calm mood of the place a lot. Very good photo work!

Hi Danos,
I like the reflections on the water. The wideness of the lagoon is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the mountains. The good luminosity is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour, cher Danos,
Il émane de cette réalisation un sentiment de plénitude à l'instar de la surface de l'eau aussi lisse qu'un miroir renvoyant la nature se mirer !
Un pur moment de bonheur offert par la nature.
Amitiés.

Hello Danos,
This is an exceptionally beautiful and calming photograph.
You have composed it perfectly, with the mountains and their reflections right on the thirds line, and a huge expanse of still water in the f/g.
The colours are perfect, the light almost ethereal.
Have a lovely Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hello Danos,
It's a fantastic view of the lagoon with its very calm water and the fine reflections. This is a good opportunity to use the cliché of "looking like a mirror". The tones of blue are stunningly attractive.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Danos
A tasteful compo of the seaview with attention to detail as the foreground gives this a point to focus on. Perfect timing & placement and literally something alive and moving in all that stillness.... Excellent photography, Congrats
