Konitsa

Konitsa (Greek: Κόνιτσα) is a town of Ioannina in Epirus, Greece, near the Albanian border. It is located north of the capital Ioannina, and northeast of a group of villages known as the Zagorochoria. The town was built amphitheatrically-shaped on a mountain slope of the Pindos mountain range from where it overlooks the valley where the river Aoos meets the river Voidomatis.

Konitsa acts as a regional hub for several small villages of Pindos, and features many shops, schools and a general hospital. Primary aspects of the economy are agriculture and tourism; it is a popular starting point for tourists and hikers who want to explore the Pindos mountains, or who want to go rafting in the river Aoos or parapenting. Due to Konitsa's closeness to places of particular interest, such as the Vikos–Aoös National Park, which includes the Vikos Gorge, the Aoos Gorge and the Tymfi mountains, where the Vikos spring water brand is collected, the Dragonlakes of Tymfi and Smolikas and the sulphur baths of Kavasila, contributed to the increase of tourism in the region.

Hello Danos,
A great view across the bridge, where I like the contrast between the fast-running water and the calmer water further away. The old bridge is also nicely included at right and the colours and light are most appealing.

Notable strong water current and a nice view of the river and arch-bridge around the corner.
Chosen well a water-edge POV. Color of the water indicating snow melted originally and streamed down the river.

The arched bridge partly obscured behind the trees reminds me of Mostar in Bosnia. Good sharpness and density levels. I like the cyan color of the stream. Tfs!

Hello Danos,

I just love the quality of the light and colours on the water. For a still photograph, there seems to be definite movement!
The rocks and pebbles on the river bank anchor the f/g nicely, making a good diagonal lead to the town on the opposite bank.
If we follow the lead of the water, the bridge is an unexpected, attractive feature.

A photogenic venue of the rural setting and a well composed landscape by the river. Obviously the partially hidden ancient bridge is the star of the show complemented by some nice background features. I love the water flow and its colour giving a nice colour break.
