Cave of Filoktitis

Near the sanctuary of Kavers, there is the only cave of Filoktitis. According to the legend, the Achaeans, going to Troy, stopped on the island and left Philoktitis, who had been bitten by the snake of the Temple of God Chryssa, and his foot made an unbearable odor.

They came back to him after some years and went to Troy because, according to the clerics of the Hellen, only with his weapons (the arrows of Hercules) could understand it. He is the hero who inspired our three tragic poets - the tragedy "Philoctetes", Sophocles, has survived to this day.

Hello Danos,
Another fine photo from your vacations. The rocks and the waves create fine patterns and the people provide life. The rough texture of the rocks is well captured. I love the contrasts between light brown and blue/green and the excellent clarity.

Hello Danos, the people on the rocks enliven the scene; we can only imagine the view that the man with the smartphone is seeing.
The sea is such a beautiful mix of colours, and the rocks provide a contrasting texture.

I've never been to the north Aegean but it looks every bit as nice as the south Aegean. Terrific warm cold colour contrasts between the red rocks and azure sea. Tfs!

Brave and curious visitors bent over the narrow cave and rocks, but the main attraction in this picture, to my humble opinion - is the stunning blue & turquoise water colors.
Good contrast from the brown rocks, shining daylight enhanced each crack upon those.
