Akronafplia

The turkish Its - Kale, Varousi, as it was called during the Greek revolution, is the most ancient acropolis of Nafplio. Walls of all eras are saved on it. It is 85 meters high, 400 m wide and 900 m in length. The byzantine Nafplio was limited there, in the plateau of Akronafplia. In its west side survived the Greek element and the name Roman fortress.

The Venetians complemented the fortification in 1839. They builded in the east fortress a bastion, opposite from Palamidi and they opened a way through to Arvanitia beach. Underneath Akronafplia NW, they builded the fortress of Toros, with five cannons - " The five brothers".
Akronafplia was divided internally in three self-sufficient fortresses. They had such a structure so that its one could fire not only outside enemies but also against the inner fortresses in case one got captured.

Απίστευτη φωτογραφία - καρτποστάλ φίλε μου! Πιστεύω μία από τις καλύτερές σου. Η Panasonic φαίνεται καλή κάμερα. Την είδα στο Internet. Εκπληκτική καθαρότητα, φανταστικά ζωντανά χρώματα και εξαίρετος φωτισμός! Αν δεν χτυπήσει μια 50άρα τουλάχιστον αυτή η φωτό θα φάω τα μούσια μου! :)

Very nice view of this beautiful port. I visit this town I during my first trip in Greece and if i remember well there's a huge lion statue somewhere (am I wrong ?). The colors are beautiful and your composition is well balanced. Maybe should you enhance slightly the contrasts to obtain a better depth. Anyway a good picture, thanks for sharing !

Nice photo, the blue tones of the water and the sky look very attractive. Because of your high pov, the photo has a lot of depth. The details are very sharp and the orange roofs give some nice extra colours.

Hi John, An excellent shot. I like you PoV in taking this picture. You have well captured the beauty of this peninsula with the bird's eye view shot. All the colors in the pictures are well captured: the red roofs; the blue ocean; the green plants; the white sady beach, the dark rocks and cliffs. Peaceful colorful and beautiful scenery. Hi John - fantastic sharpness anmd colours, especially the combination of orange roofs and blue sea, is beautifully mediterranean. I see that big wafflefront hotel is still there, it was closed down last october, I hope something more tasteful will replace it.

What an astounding composition! Your POV is chosen for maximum impact, as the point of land juts at an angle into the frame. The colours are dramatic, with the blue green water and red roofed buildings contrasting superbly. The broad expanse of the bay and distant hills complete a well rendered and picturesque scene. This is a keeper!
