Photographer's Note
my village was one of those that suffered from the recent fires in Peloponnisos, Greece.
we spent that dramatic night fighting the fire trying to save our houses, and although the scenery was quite photogenic I realised right away that carrying a dslr around wasn't a smart choice...
I took that picture during an interval of the battle, using the [email protected] handheld at ISO800. I converted it from NEF with Adobe Camera Raw and that's all.
thank you :)

Geia soy Kosta,
It is a really sad photo... It tell us a lot: burning houses and trees, desolation. In the same time, you realized a perfect shot (colours, composition) which get us in trouble: a dramatic beautiful photo and unforgetable sad memories.
I hope the people of your village will recover and remain unite against those who are behind this arsons. Thanks for sharing this witness,
S'eyfxaristw,

Hello Kostas,
How apocaliptic this is! Wow... That is really sad. Did you amange to battle the fire or did you loose a lot of the village? I hope the best for you, your family and the people in your village!
Greetings,

It's indeed dramatic and apocalyptic! Very well captured! Many people have already forgotten and it is only those who suffer the consequences that will never forget and perhaps forgive!! Thank you for sharing! FILIKA Stella

Hi Kostas, looking at such images is hard. Most of all it's hard to face how stupid we are and realize that most of the times we act with no sense at all.

Kalispera Kostas.
Sad picture, but useful remember us what happened in your country with the fire the last summer.
Technically also is very good. Even I could say impressive.
Ta leme, file.

Remarkable image... I think your work really excels when you shoot straight, some of the forced compositions (in my humble opinion) aren't quite as powerful and evocative as your straight up work... this is amazing, both as documentary and art.
