Photographer's Note
I still remember capturing this scene early in the morning...because I had to sleep in my car overnight. I couldn't find any housing, so I had to improvise.
It was a difficult night in my car. I decided to drive around in the early morning before sunrise, hunting for a great subject that would be illuminated by the warm glow of the sun.
This is what I found, another abandoned home, with lots of machinery and rusted out parts, roofing etc...In the bg is a huge Glacier, directly behind the house.
I know this isn't everyone's idea of a great subject, but for me, I can't get enough of them.
And in case you're wondering...NO, i didn't go looking around inside the house. Why? because a family is living in a newer home on the same property, not that far away. I assume these homes are passed down from generation to generation, and at some point they just let them rot away, while building a new home. I have to respect the families property, I wanted to go inside, but I couldn't bring myself to do so.
In the WS is another angle of the abandoned home, its not a main post because its in the shade. Hope you like these

Hi Craig,
The wideness of the area is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the abandoned house and of the glacier. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nie day.

Hi dear friend craig
Beautiful view of this farm and abandoned house. Good sharpness and excellent exposure. The picture of the workshop shows well. Beautiful shot. I appreciate your effort and endurance of a hard night to take a good photo. Thanks for sharing

Hi Craig,

Hello Craig,
This is a good photo seeing it straight from this page, but it gets so much better in a new tab. It's so clear and crisp and the buildings look really spooky. My thoughts are somehow drawn towards the "Psycho" movie. You might have found someone's dead mother still sitting in her rocking chair if you had managed to get inside. The mountains provide a perfect background and the two large boulders are well placed close to us. The main building looks even worse/better in the WS.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Craig, unmistakably one of your shots!
I am with you, if I had seen these buildings I would have had my camera out, and clicking away.
Lovely colours, and something of interest in every part of the frame.
Imagine living so close to a glacier? Having that view every day.
Excellent sharpness.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Craig,
Ha ha, yes they would probably not believe that you are a hobby photographer on such a strange hour looking around a place like that. Or maybe I am wrong, maybe they have tourists over there all the time. They could organize a souvenir shop inside...
I like the two white balls in the foreground.
Great original sneak view towards the glacier.
I see that many people who want to explore the wilder parts of Iceland decide to sleep in the car. I am not sure whether I would be able to convince my daughter to such adventure. ha ha
Great reportage,

Hi Craig
Well framed and composed using the rule of thirds with a soft early morning light. Good sharpness and nice warm cold colour contrasts added by the old red tiled roof and rusting walls. Tfs!

Hi Craig, the photo is very beautiful, even deceptive, you have to zoom in to understand that in the background on the right there is not a blue lake but a series of rusty sheets that still retain the original color. Two beautiful views of this abandoned house, here the space is not lacking and it is preferable to build close rather than tear them down. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Craig,
A great photo with an amazing contrast between the mountains and glacier in the background and the house and green fields in front of them. The composition is perfect, very well-balanced. What a great find after such an uncomfortable night!

Hi Craig,
Wonderful view. Foreground has warm tones of hay while the background shows freezing cold glacier, practically on the same level. Group of buildings look strange. Especially the one on the left.

Hi Craig
Firstly, it's so nice to see you active on the site again! We all have to leave it sometimes when time is at a premium but it's great when people keep coming back. It's also good to see you have photos to post even though, maybe, you are not travelling as much as you used to.
I think it's a great subject and it stands out well on the background of "50 shades of blue". Well worth sleeping in the car to capture this (I've also done that many times; some of my favourite shots are those taken after/before sleeping in a car).
So here is me, looking after an elderly parent and not having much time to post to TE or write critiques, never mind to travel. But it's brilliant we all get to keep in touch from time to time.
Best wishes
Kasia
PS. I do remember your uploads from Varanasi! Great place for photography indeed.

Hello Craig,
Impressive view of the glacier behind the house.
For a moment I thought I saw water between the mountains and the house, but on closer inspection it is a wall or a roof.
I like the two sheep in the foreground that seem to be swallowed by the grass.
Best regards, Paul
