Photographer's Note
rney to the Center of the Earth (French: Voyage au centre de la Terre, also translated under the titles A Journey to the Centre of the Earth and A Journey to the Interior of the Earth) is an 1864 science fiction novel by Jules Verne. The story involves German professor Otto Lidenbrock who believes there are volcanic tubes going toward the centre of the Earth. He, his nephew Axel, and their guide Hans descend into the Icelandic volcano Snæfellsjökull, encountering many adventures, including prehistoric animals and natural hazards, before eventually coming to the surface again in southern Italy, at the Stromboli volcano.(Wikipedia).
Snæfellsjökull is a 700,000-year-old glacier-capped stratovolcano in western Iceland. It is situated on the most western part of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland. Sometimes it may be seen from the city of Reykjavík over Faxa Bay, at a distance of 120 km.
The mountain is one of the most famous sites of Iceland.
In August 2012 the summit was ice-free for the first time in recorded history.
Jules Verne has never been in Iceland.

Hello Malgo,
I remember reading the book as a youngster; now I can see were the adventure started; one of the marvels of TE :-) I like the light and shadow play and the warm tints. The saturated sky supplies a superb backdrop.

Hello Malgo,
Wow, what a landscape! The light, shadows and colours are quite dramatic and look really amazing. Also the white landscape underneath the blue sky is fantastic. Very well done.

Ciao Malgo,
Quel beau paysage de neige et de montagnes. Le vent a fait son effet et formé de belles vagues avec le paysage. Le ciel est impeccable ainsi que la lumière.. On voit même ton ombre.

Hello Malgo,
This marvellous scenery, and especially the fantastic light and colours, probably kept you busy for a while. Otherwise I would have expected you to climb down the crater to see how far you could get. I didn't read the book, but it was included in the series of Classics Illustrated, which was published in a Swedish edition from the 1950's. That's where I learned all about the world of literature adapted for children.
Kind regards,
Gert

Impressive scenery, superb captured. It does look like a scene from/for a scifi-movie.

Hello Malgo,
Jules Verne was my favourite writer when I was a kid.
I devoured the stories 'Journey to the Center of the Earth', 'Around the World in Eighty Days', 'Michael Strogoff' and 'A Captain at Fifteen'.
So you dreamed of going into a volcano in Iceland and ending up in Stromboli? The ultimate journey. That would produce some great pictures.
Also on this photo the light and the colour of the sky are marvelous. Just like on some previous pictures of you.
The long shadows make the foreground more attractive.
Best regards, Paul

Czesc Malgo!
A fantastic light, with some extra long shadows. But deceiving. The chosen perspective gives no hint about the summit's height above your POV.

Hello Malgo, maybe I am hungry, but the snow covered land reminds me of meringue and whipped cream!
A very interesting note about Jules Verne's novel.
Lovely light and shade which helps to show the rough terrain.
Regards Jean.

Hello Malgo,
Just beautiful!
What words can describe this site!
I just love how you have been able to use the light and the shadows so effectively to reveal the irregular surfaces of the terrain.
Again ... it's beautiful!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Malgo,
THe wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the mountain. The light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
