Photographer's Note

The Blue Lagoon in the Rekjnes peninsula in Iceland was created when seawater flowed in from the Svartengi CHP plant and accumulated in the lava landscape. The residents of the neighborhood discovered that the water had a soothing effect on skin diseases and surroundings were also beautiful. This was the birth of one of the main tourist attractions in Iceland. The Blue Lagoon was opened in the 1980s. The large pool with its 37degree water is a very comfortable place to relax. Since the Blue Lagoon is located between Keflavik International Airport and Iceland’s capital Reykjavik is sort of a natural stop for most tourists visiting Iceland

Hello Ulf,

such a contrast between the warm and cosy water and the dark sky which doesnt look so comfortable...but I think this is to find in many places in Iceland. The note is also very informative, I didn't know the laggon is so young!

The lagoon seems to be a great place to relax, with this water vapor involving bathers. Great POV. The wooden bridge gives perspective. Excellent sharpness, beautiful colors.

Hej Ulf,
Detta ser ju ganska behagligt ut, och i juni kanske luften ändå var någorlunda ljummen, så att inte kontrasten mot vattnet blev alltför chockande. Vattnet har en sällsam gråblå ton som onekligen gör sig bra på bild. Den här vinkeln är välfunnen med den elegant böjda bron som blickfång. Det verkar inte vara så djupt, att döma av dem som ser ut att stå, men vad är det för botten? Vassa och otrevliga lavablock?

Very nice picture with these swimmers in this splendid warm water.
We see splendid the water vapour above the water.
Also the small and narrow bridge is the real eye catcher on these nice picture.

Hello Ulf,
the existence and the swimm in the Blue lagoon must be a great peasure as relaxing place for the natives as the tourists too.As i see a lot of steam cover the atmosphere over the surface of the water making the place even more attractive and unique.
