An equinox in astronomy is the moment when the Sun is located right over the equator. The event occurs twice a year, around March 20 and September 23. More technically, the equinox happens when the Sun is at one of two opposite points on the celestial sphere where the celestial equator and ecliptic intersect. In a wider sense, the equinoxes are the two days each year when the center of the Sun spends an equal amount of time above and below the horizon at every location on Earth. The word equinox derives from the Latin words aequus (equal) and nox (night).

A cicada is any of several insects of the order Hemiptera, suborder Auchenorrhyncha, in the superfamily Cicadoidea, with small eyes wide apart on the head and transparent, well-veined wings. Cicadas live in temperate to tropical climates where they are one of the most widely recognized of all insects, largely due to their large size and remarkable (and often inescapable) acoustic talents. Cicadas are sometimes called "locusts", although they are unrelated to true locusts, which are a kind of grasshopper. Cicadas are related to leafhoppers and spittlebugs.

Magari Vinicio, magari...qua a Milano e credo in tutto il resto d'Italia ancor di più fa un caldo terribile.
arrivasse un pò di autunno...
in ogni caso una macro stupenda oggi, coloratissima con quella foglia sullo sfondo e la cicale perfettamente ripresa!
bellissimi colori, messa a fuoco, ottima luce e contrasto.

Although the green is a bit too saturated to my taste, the cicada looks gorgeous against this background, nice macro shot and a good diagonal of the tree.

bellissima perfetta immagine, Vinicio! Tutto nitido contro un verde chiaro esagerato. La cicala no, non mi piace, mi piace sentirle cantare quando sono a Lussino, ma poi se le vedo.... aaargh, sono così brutte che non mi piace più nemmeno il canto!

Ciao Vinicio, impressionante la nitidezza della cicala, e delle ali soprattutto.. mi perplime un po il verde chock della foglia dietro, ma ciò non toglie che è una gran bella foto.

I would have cropped the upper purt of the leaves (leaving just enough to let us understand it is a leave), I find it a bit distracting.

Very well done backlit shot. The use of the green transparent leaf to highlight the songmaker is very well thought out. Great simple compostion with eye catching lines running throughout.

gran bel saluto all'estate che fu...fino a qualche giorno fa. Ottimo macro, perfettamente nitido con dettagli ben visibili. La foglia sfuocata sullo sfondo è di ottimo contrasto ed ha una parvenza astratta molto suggestiva. Complimenti e ciao!
