VINEYARD CULTIVATION
The most commonly used cultivation systems are:
Systems with medium expansion:
"Stemmed Cords"
Used for the varieties wanting short pruning. The permanent cord is folded and tied to the 1st thread and, from it, in the for-front are branching spurs of one, two or three shoots placed to 25-35 cm. This is a form of cultivation very useful for new techniques also producing good quality grapes even though it has a low number of shoots (40-80,000). The best structure to this purpose is to have mt 2,50 between the rows and mt 1,5 in the other direction, with one density of approximately 2.700 stalks/hectares.
"Cazenave Cords"
Used for the varieties wanting medium pruning. The permanent cord is always folded to the 1st thread and, from it, are branching, at a distance of 30-40 cm, a spur of 2 shoots and a stalk of 6 to 8 shoots. This cord can be bended to a bow shape. It was mostly used in the years after the Second World War.
It needs a strong holding structure and new soil.
The density of the cultivation is of approximately 2.000 stalks/hectares with mt. 2,50 between the rows and mt. 2,00 on the other direction.
It is not so much used in the actual cultivations.
Systems with great expansion:
"Canopies"
The vines are uplifted from the ground and are resting on quite concentrated holding structures.
The vines are placed generally in a square shape from to mt.2 to mt.4 of side.
On the raised structure of mt 1,80 from the ground there are placed 3-4 buds and related spurs. The medium density in our zones is of approximately 1.100 stalks/hectares with a high rate of shoots (120-150,000).
It needs a strong holding structure and new soil.
It is mostly used in the South of Italy for the grapes used mainly as fruit for eating.
It was greatly spread in the seventies due to the unfortunate "quantity policy" and to the lack of mechanical aids in agriculture during those years.

Hi Vinicio.
I like this photo very much.
Personally, it's the tilt that works for me, parallel geometrical lines and almost just two coloured combination.
take care, Aleks

Ciao Vinicio,
Fantástica composición de estas viñas formando franjas y encuadradas en diagonal en la foto.
Los colores son muy buenos, y la luz del atardecer es muy cálida y agradable. Perfectas sombras.

Interesting black & green atmosphere. The close up and the framing creates a good atmosphere, even strange. Good sharpness management.

Good evening Vinicio,
The composition is brilliant, with amazing graphical impact.
And for Frascati... mmmm... well my friend, as I write this the sun is setting over Buenos Aires and the idea of relaxing with a cup of white wine sounds very inviting! Cheers!
Have a great weekend Vinicio.
Ciao, Carlos

Bravo!

Hi Vinicio,
Effective linear composition and good light. New leaves always have so bright greens.
(It seems that most of my German vineyard shots are out-of-date before I get to upload them.)

Ciao Vinicio!
Dopo tanto...eccomi qua!
Complimenti e saluti. A presto!

Hi,
I like the way the lines cross the photo. I like saturated colors as well. It's simple. It's minimalistic. And it's really eye-catching. well done.
