Photographer's Note
This image is a hand-held shot taken from the base of the spiral stair-case at the Vatican Museum in Italy.
The intent was to capture the subtle highlighting of the relief features cast by the natural light passing through the subtley stained glass dome window. The balance of this uncropped image felt right at the time.

I've spent a day in the vatican trying to get something like this but the light is so low and there is so many people that it is very, very hard and I had nothing comparable to that. The light coming from the sky is good and shows just enough details from the stairs. Good work.
