365 days on TE, a photo from La Spezia, Liguria

Photographer's Note

One year, 365 days on TE.
The 21th February 2005 I’ve found TE, thanks to a link from another pictures site.
I was searching a site where upload all my images; at the beginning I didn’t understand the 1 picture per day politic…and I was very perplexed about that.
I posted my first picture, than one and I received some critiques from Vanessa Summersun, Jean Pixel Terror, Gae Zanni, Jack RJ…
What’s changed for me in that years.
Well, it’s sure that I re-scanned all my old picture from the lowest quality to the higher one!
Jean Yves advised me about Neat Image to clean my ultra noise scanned shots.
Sabine and Tina changed my vision of the Frames (my first frame were really kitchs).
I learned from Jerzy, Fred, Seb, Pascl, Rafal and others that the tilted image can be a solution and the use of light and shadows, from many of us that the subject of the image is better on a side than in the middle, I discovered the fantastic Indian shot of Claude, the wonderful ones about Scandinavia of Jack, the beautiful ones Cessy, Alain, Eric, Daniel, Fabio, Henk, Jaap, Izzet, Gal, Maciej, Norbert, Luca, Simon, Dan, Giorgio…the fantastic portrait of African people of Gaby, the fantastic one from Indonesia and Vietnam by others members, the urban shots of Francis, Richard and Kev…

It’s sure, I’ve changed my way to take an image.
Now I control the light, the shadows, the….POV (at the beginnings…damn…what is this POV!!!!), the composition, the contrast….

Anyway I consider this only a first step, not a point of arrival.
So for that my “celebration” I’m uploading a normal shots, nothing linked with the 1 year on TE.
It’s only a view of the beautiful Gulf of the Poets, on the Ligurian Eastern coast, took from the small village of Serra, looking down hill to the Lerici village, with the castle, the sunset, the Palmaria Islands, his lighthouse, and Portovenere Cap on the background.

One year already, and you've been contributing to a fairly diverse gallery, I think if we add your and my country we might nearly match the Captain Haddoch ;-)
Attractive night view, the shooting time was just right to provide a fine color transition from the cold to the warm and the village overlooking the seascape provides a good anchor for the eye.

Hola Paolo, una foto relamente impresionante. Es muy sencilla pero a la vez muy bonita. Los colores de la luz son geniales, muy suaves e intensos. La composición además es agradable y amplia la intensidad de los colores. Quizas falta algo de nitidez, pero eso no es problema del fotografo. Un gran trabajo.

I was sure I had critiqued this one before, Pablo, but obviously lot. Perfect exposure and excellent composition. You don't often see colours as glorious as this on the ground - this reminds me more of the sunsets that you see at 40,000 ft in the air. I don't know whether you used NeatImage on this, but if you did, it has done an excellent job. Cheers . . . David
