Cathedral of Noto, a photo from Syracuse, Sicily

Photographer's Note

La Cattedrale di Noto,iniziata nel 1693, pochi mesi dopo il terremoto, fu completata solo nel 1770.
E'la piu' vasta ed imponente della citta'.
Nel 1844 fu eretta a Cattedrale da Gregorio XVI e nel 1940 e' stata dichiarata monumento nazionale.
Ignoto e' rimasto, il progettista del maestoso tempio, anche se recenti studi attribuiscono il progetto a Rosario Gagliardi.
Sull'opera un secondo architetto, Vincenzo Sinatra nella meta' circa del settecento, intervenne attivamente realizzando anche l'alto frontone della facciata.
Il tempio, si sviluppa su una facciata di ben 40 metri, veramente sontuosa e imponente.
I lavori del meeting di domenica con Francesco e Giorgio sono raccolti in un tema apposito.

The Cathedral of Noto, initiated in 1693, few months after the earthquake, was completed only in the 1770.
It's more vast and imposing of the city.
In 1844 it was erect to Cathedral from Gregorio XVI and in 1940 it's declared national monument.
Unknown is remained, the planner of the stately temple, even if recent studies attribute the project to Rosario Gagliardi.
On the work a second architect, Vincenzo Sinatra in the destination around of the seven hundred one, it actively intervened also realizing the tall pediment of the façade.
The temple, develops its on a façade of well 40 meters, really sumptuous and imposing.
The jobs of the meeting of Sunday with Francesco and Georgio are picked in a special theme.

La dicromia tra il dorato della chiesa e l'intenso blu del cielo è spettacolare. La facciata barocca è veramente bella e mi piace il POV che hai utilizzato che crea una composizione in diagonale. Ottima anche la definizione e il contrasto. Una foto di alto gradimento.
Ma dov'è il ws di cui parlava Francesco?

finalmente hai anche una buona qualita' nelle foto, devo dire che la nuova macchina lavora molto bene e mixata con la tua bravura ottieni delle bellissime foto.
interessante il pov che esalta sia la maestosita' della chiesa e la bellezza del cielo.

mi piace la diagonale che si è creata ed il contrasto con l'intenso blu del cielo.

Ciao Maurizio,
semplicemente spettacolare. Il contrasto ottenuto tra il cielo e il colore della facciata del Duomo è davvero notevole.
Non credo ci sia bisogno di aggiungere altro, anche perchè hanno già detto tutto gli altri nostri amici.

Grand view of this facade and what a fine architecture of 1693 that shows its unique style of craftsmanship in the details. You chose a good day with such bright light and blue sky to capture this color contrast. Now I wish to see the whole church :)

Hello Maurizio,
A fine capture of this cathedral façade. I like how it rises through the frame towards that lovely blue sky with its wispy clouds. The golden tones of the building are set off to good effect against the dark blue tones of the sky. Very good light and superb clarity.

non me ne vogliano Francesco e Giorgio, ma questa interpretazione della cattedrale Barocca di Noto mi sembra di un livello superiore per l'originalita del POV, la definizione dei dettagli, un cielo esente da disturbi e molto bello e intenso.

I'm back, but much "slower", posting less and making less comments! If I go on - much likely to happen - I'll go back to my old "shape" again!
I like this picture a lot, because it has excellent sharpness and brightness, thus allowing me to see all the beautiful details of this magnificent cathedral! The viewpoint was well chosen and, therefore, you have composed it so nicely with the contrast between the construction and the bluest sky above!

SBANG! Come un colpo in testa, o come una sberla in piena faccia, questa tua bellissima foto che colpisce gli occhi e la mente. L'impatto visivo, e perciò anche quello mentale, é fortissimo. Bravo, bravo Maurizio! So bene che dovrei spiegarmi con termini molto più tecnici...Ma tu hai capito, vero? Ne sono certa.

You seem to capture architecture very well, and this shot is a good example. The angle you've chosen creates some nice lines and the colour of the building contrasts perfectly against the deep blue sky. Perfect sharpness and colours too!

hanno tutti ragione: bello il contrasto tra il colore della pietra e il blu del cielo, con le nuovole a dare profondità.
Bella scelta anche per il POV dal basso e angolato (mi ricorda una foto di Chiaretta al Monastero di Petra - http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=834761 - ha gli stessi colori, bellissimi).
Quello che io trovo quasi perfetto però sta nell'ottima gestione della luce, che sottolinea le linee morbide dell'architettura baroccca mettendone in risalto il colore, e la scelta del taglio orizzontale, che ha reso possibile l'effetto diagonale e ha dato importanza al cielo senza sminuire il soggetto principale.
