Hello Gunnar,

Oh, how I loathe mobile 'phones! They are the curse (or one of them) of modern society. I don't know what the situation is in Sweden, but here in Scotland everyone uses them constantly - when driving their cars, when standing in front of you at supermarket checkouts, even when you're trying to have a conversation with them. How did we survive before this technology arrived? And what, exactly, do they all talk about?

And, like this lady, people never appear to be very happy when using their mobile 'phones either! But you have caught her well - she's clearly oblivious to everything about her, including your camera - you have placed her perfectly in the frame and the wall and the flight of steps make an excellent and non-distracting background.

Hej Gunnar,
This is a very well composed picture with attractive colours. The steps create fine vertical lines, with a hint of a diagonal, and their rough texture, as well as that of the brick wall, is nicely captured. Then of course the woman is the main feature, looking bored but holding her arms nicely.
A very distinct composition, free from all unnecessary details.

I always enjoy these kind of candid shots and tis is no exception. I do feel though that it would benefit from a little more contrats and sharpness to bring out the textures.But interesting lines and like John (tyro) I do wonder what people find to talk about on their mobiles.

Sie scheint ja sehr konzentriert zuzuhören.
Der Bildaufbau mit diesen massiven Stufen und der Ziegelwand gefällt mir sehr. Ein etwas ungewöhnliches Urlaubsfoto - aber ein sehr schönes!
Grüße an euch beide aus Siegen, wo der Sommer zur Zeit eine Pause macht!

Hello Gunnar,

I was in Verona on a day when the temperature reached 40°C, similar to what we expect in Virginia today. Shot in March, this is clearly not a sweltering day as August will be in Verona. I like very much the slice-of-life shot in the modern age, the ubiquitous mobile phone. Indeed, I am placing this lovely shot in a new group theme Mobile Phones.

I like such candid street shots! but unfortunately not all of them are full of a happy mood (as life is life!). It seems to me that the phone talk is either very serious or sad..
Concerning the composition.. Very good! :)
I love the stairs: such an old one (maybe also remembering those "times immemorial"?)

Someone does not look happy, and I had supoosed this was a sympathetic image of great pathos - until I read Tyro assessment of mobile phones ! And yes, I see it now !
As it is, I like it still, the combination of colours, and the iamgery of the steps; I just can't quite appreiciate it so much with John's harsh words ringing in my ears !
