Venice Marco Polo Airport at night, a photo from Venice, Veneto

Photographer's Note

Venice Marco Polo Airport is on the Italian mainland around 8.0km north of Venice Island.

The airport was named after the Venetian traveller Marco Polo, whose book introduced Central Asia and China to Europeans.

The airport is connected to the nearby railway station of Venice Mestre and to the bus terminal of Piazzale Roma in Venice by scheduled bus services; to several destinations on the Venice island and to Piazza San Marco by the express Gold Line water taxi.

Photo taken from airplane window just before one of the last take offs from the airport at that September evening.

evening at the airport.I like it!not easy photo to take(behind the window,poor light),but the outcome of your work is really good.And that´s all without a tripod.

Hi Miro,

Are those U.F.O's? :) You know, I don't think most people would look at an airport tarmac and find it all that interesting, but you have with shot. Maybe it's the lighting, with the blue tint, or just the association it has with travel and adventure...but this actually works. It's dark, it's moody, the digital noise gives it some grit, and it just has kind of a mystical atmosphere to it. I like that you've thought outside of the traditional photo box and went for something different. Nicely done!

Fabulous blue hour scene with exposure spot on without blowing the flood lights. Placement of the aircraft is good and I'm so glad that you allowed that depth and space for the tarmac as the viewpoint form this angle is excellent. Touches of warm colors and the star bursts have produced some terrific effect with superb contrast. It's well atempt worked, Congrats

Hello Miro,
Airports are always fascinating subject, though in Israel not allowed photography within, and on the terminal it is impossible - but having spent many years ago on an airport, I know the feeling when seeing a night scenery over the terminal and ground.
Not an easy task, taking this through an airplan window ( correct the widow...), some bulb's-glare reflected on the window glass, but anyway I found this intriguing.

Hi Miro,
Intense light especially through window isn't beneficial for the picture quality. Nevertheless this has good blue hour feeling. Volotea 717 has nice livery and I like the classic design inherited from DC-9. Yellow line and sign are well placed.

Not up to your usual standard, but considering it was taking through a thick glass window and at the Blue Hour, the quality is quite good. I like the blue tones and the lights make the photo quite striking.

Due to the three airport lights, other pieces of illumination and interesting compositional elements, this night scene looks very attractive and aesthetic. Perfectly well composed and masterfully captured!
My only concern is the word "widow" in the last sentence of the note.

Hi Miro,

You're capturing well this night airport by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the airport in blue hour which the airplane is stopping at terminal surrounding by the flood of light. It's a tasteful color contrast between the ground and the sky. You took beautifully this scene through the plane's window.
