Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie
Just before you reach the ancient castle of Eggi on the right, you will come across this small but lovely church.
The simplicity of the architectural lines well be married with the rural environment yet, the majestic oak, Quercus pubescens Wild., 4.39 meters in circumference seems to protect it.
The church dates from the late fifteenth century, the oak, yet powerful and flourishing should have about 200 years. The simple building with a single nave covered by a gabled roof with beams gantry and semi-circular apse, is the traditional place of worship.
In front gabled opened four large windows, now closed, to allow travelers to worship the image of the Madonna painted in the apse from the outside. There are frescoes by local artists of the sixteenth century.

This is a superb picture where I love not only the tiny 15th century church but also the majestic oak that seems to provide shade and shelter to it. The diffused light and the colours are lovely with excellent sharpness and details. The scattered clouds and the faint outlines of the distant hill make a very engaging backdrop.

Hi Silvio, I like the way you construct this image. The focus point is the tree in the middle. The church is minor. The overcast sky gives nice dynamic mood to the area. Great details and with natural colours. Thank for sharing

The tree is helpoing to frame the church. The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details, the colors of the church and of the building. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

molto bella la presentazione dell' antica chiesa in un contesto semplice, attraente ed interessante. La luce esalta la forma e le tessiture della chiesa, l' albero e' magnifico e domina il quadro, offrendo anche un senso di scala intrigante. I colori sono superbi ed il posto generalmente e' invitante, fa' voglia di fare una paseggiata per esaminare tutti gli elementi da vicino. Complimenti e grazie!
