Montalto Casino

This building, twin of the Gambara, was built twenty years after the latter, when the very young Cardinal Montalto, born Alessandro Damasceni, received the Bagnaia Park as a gift from his uncle Pope Sixtus V. The decorations of the rooms were made between 1613 and 1615 by the Cavalier d'Arpino and Agostino Tassi. The most evident interventions at the time of Cardinal Alessandro Peretti Montalto, in addition to the construction of the second building, were the completion of the Pegasus fountain, also known as Parnassus and the modification of the Quattro Mori fountain with the Montalto Peretti coat of arms: pears held aloft by the figures.
