Tomb of the Pulcella
It was discovered in 1865 and consists of a rectangular chamber with a niche in the center of the back wall with Tuscan columns and a Gorgonic mask on the head of the ridge beam; two winged geniuses spread a veil over the deceased, on either side two musicians. Banquet scenes are depicted on the side walls featuring a man and a woman half reclining on the klinai. It dates back to the end of the 5th century BC. It owes its name to a small handmaid depicted on the left wall. It was subject to theft in 1963, with damage to the face of the chick and the removal of the figures of a diner and a small servant, whose head, found in a German museum, was spontaneously returned and is now in the Archaeological Museum of Tarquinia. Hello Silvio,
This is a very strange and mysterious room, so it must have been an exciting moment when it was discovered. There are relatively well preserved wall paintings that look fascinating. The ceiling is also beautifully decorated. With a flash, or maybe a permanent artificial light, you managed to show us a clear and sharp photo.

The style looks remarkably different from the Christian era frescoes, so that immediately caught my interest. 500 BC is quite old. The tomb looks similar to Phrygian tombs I saw in western Turkey. Tfs!

The splendid interior of this tomb, of considerable size, with many traces of paintings on walls and ceilings, undoubtedly belonged to a wealthy Roman family.
Very good color, optimal lighting and sharpness to highlight the image.

What a wonderful piece of history to have been found and studied!
You have been able to create a fine sense of depth from the converging lines. The wall paintings look amazing depictions of the times. I wonder if they will be conserved for future generations!
