Hermitage of San Lorenzo - Vallerano (VT)

The so-called settlement occupies a tufaceous ridge about 2 kilometers south of Vignanello, 2.5 kilometers southeast of Vallerano and less than 1 kilometer northeast of Orte, along the route of the current Orte - Amelia provincial road.
There is not much historical information on the area, now uninhabited.
The settlement perhaps stands on an area of the Faliscan necropolis, it is very likely that it was not a rock monastery, but a rural settlement with its church, the name of which is unknown.
Perhaps it refers to a Benedictine community dependent on the Farfa abbey, in fact in the 10th century the area was part of the possessions of Farfa.
The church and the settlement of San Lorenzo are certainly active in the 10th century, but it is not known when they were founded or when they were abandoned.
