Castle of Vasciano - Stroncone (TR)

History

Ancient castle, subject first to Narni then to Stroncone, still maintains its medieval appearance. Wedged in the valley of the river Aja, which originates from the mountains of Configni, Vasciano presents a territory jagged from precipices and cliffs with hills planted with vines and olive groves. It is surrounded by magnificent woods with beeches, hornbeams, hedgehogs and oaks, which rise above one thousand meters. A small coat of arms carved in the frieze of a window mentions the dominion of the Savelli princes.

From a bull of Honorius III, on March 17, 1225, when Narni and the places of the diocese itself were struck with disquiet, it appears that Vasciano was among the assets taken under the protection of St. Peter of Rome, being burdened by the municipality of collections and huge duties. Subsequently, from a bull of Pope Gregory IX of 1 June 1227 and from the Statutes of Narni it is learned that the Castle of Vasciano had to pay Narni a 2-pound candle for the feast of St. Juvenal.

Le château est bien placé dans le cadrage. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails le château de Vasciano. La lumière rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Silvio,
You composed this photo well with the castle placed towards the right side and the view of the scenery below the hill to the left. I like the contrast between the shady nearest area and the bright sun shining on the forest with autumn colours. The road makes a nice curve across the corner.

Hello Silvio,
I really like the contrast between the brightly lit autumn trees in the valley at left and the shaded castle in the foreground. The curved path is well included in the foreground as well.

The remains of the castello are quite rough and simple but you composed it really nicely with the spectacular panoramic view opening just behind. That view gives a great context to the structure. The result is visually very attractive,

The castle preserves two splendid square towers, joined by what looks like a wall, it seems in a strange balance on the edge of an embankment, because we see the valley much lower, it is possible that the construction extended downhill.
A magnificent color, as well as good lighting and sharpness.

Ciao Caro Silvio,

You have chosen a fine viewpoint, to use the gravel path as an excellent guide line towards the ruins of the castle.
It is interesting that the f/g is in shadow, whilst the b/g shows bright sunshine, illuminating the autumnal hues.
