Crucified Jesus - Vallo di Nera (PG)

I often show images of lost treasures damaged by time, by the neglect of men and by the earthquakes that often tormented our beautiful region, today I want to show you a work instead recovered to its beauty. the crucified Jesus, a 17th century wooden work from the Church of S. Maria Vallo di Nera has finally returned home, another jewel recovered for the good mayor Agnese Benedetti, who is doing so much for the recovery of the very rich artistic heritage of her territory. The visit to the crucifix is also an opportunity to review the magnificent church of Santa Maria di Vallo di Nera, a precious casket for many works of art by Umbrian masters from the fourteenth to the sixteenth century. Hello Silvio,
It would have been interesting to also see a photo of this statue before restoration, so we could compare the job that was done to save this precious work for the future. The photo is very eye-catching thanks to the fine light on the face and the dark background.

The blood streaked head and torso of the crucifixion statue add stark realism. Good angled pov with the diagonal tilt adding dynamism. Tfs!

the sculptor and painter did a nice job and the face of Jesus is well naturalist. nice details of the ink exposed to the centuries and creating new texture. excellent image.
