Church of San Pietro Apostolo - Vallocchia - Spoleto (PG)
The ancient church, also known as San Pietro in Tegularia, in the fourteenth century depended on Sant’Angelo di Ciciano. It was probably completely renovated in the sixteenth century, reversing its orientation and opening a side door, today it is in a state of complete abandonment, the roof has almost completely collapsed and if no action is taken it is destined to disappear in a short time. L'oeuvre d'art est impressionnante. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la fresque à l'intérieur de l'église San Pietro Apostolo. La lumière rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Silvio,
Considering what we are shown in the WS it's almost a miracle that so much remains of this painting to show us how beautiful it must have been – and still is. The almost total damage sen in the WS is quite shocking. You recorded this view just in time before it may disappear completely.

Hi Silvio,
Signs of time are well visible on this wall painting. But colours are lovely on this fairly simple Christian theme. The WS is interesting showing how this place is actually in ruins.

A damaged but still beautiful fresco in which the colours are well preserved.
However, the photo in the WS shocked me.
It is really a pity how great the decay of this old church is.

A good upward pov on the fresco with effective tight framing and impeccable sharpness. Nice warm cold colour contrasts and a soft, diffused light. Tfs!

Ciao Silvio,
I know the tradition of the church says that after being taken to Heavens, St Mary was crowned as a queen. I suppose this is a way to mark an importance like giving a scientist a Nobel Prize or an actor an Oscar. In the past becoming a royal must have been important, although even these days in some countries like in the UK royalty is being celebrated. I am still not sure what is the purpose of it in the church.
Beautiful painting with well preserved vibrant colors.

so sad a beautiful mural and church are neglected this way. at least if it had a roof this would permit more time for a possible restore. very beautiful artwork.
