Photographer's Note

That's a view of the Val Padola in the Comelico Superiore Municipality, part of the Cadore historical region, Veneto.
We were close to the top of the Pass Del Zovo at 1.489 meters, looking to North-East and on the road to Auronzo di Cadore and the Lake of Misurina.

The main mount is the Croda di Longerin (2.569 meters) and the one on the right is Monte Rinaldo (2.471 meters).

The small village on the lower part of the picture is Candide; with other 3 villages, Casamazzagno, Dosoledo and Padola is part of the Comelico Superiore Municipality, with totally 3.000 inhabitants.

The language of that area is the Ladino, and the local Ladino is a mix of the one of North Lombardy, Swiss and Sud Tirol and the largest one of the Friuli Region.

Ladin (Ladino in Italian, Ladin in Ladin, Ladinisch in German) is a Rhaeto-Romance language spoken in the Dolomite mountains in Italy, between the regions of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Veneto.

It is closely related to the Swiss Romansh, Venetian and Friulian.

is spoken in Alto Adige/South Tyrol:
Urtijëi, Santa Crestina Gherdëina, Sëlva, Badia, Corvara, Mareo

the following municipalities of the province of Trento (Val di Fassa):
Canazei, Campitello di Fassa, Mazzin, Pozza di Fassa, Vigo di Fassa, Soraga, Moena

In the province of Belluno:
Comelico Superiore, Livinallongo valley, Cortina d'Ampezzo

It is officially recognized in Italy and has some official rights in the region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, while it does not have official status in the province of Belluno (Veneto region).
