Poppies in Ohrid. In the background, a view of the Church of Saints Clement.
The Church of Saints Clement and Panteleimon is a Byzantine church situated on Plaošnik in Ohrid. It is attributed to Saint Clement of Ohrid, a disciple of Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius. Archaeologists have come to believe that the church is located on the site where the first students of the Glagolitic alphabet (used to translate the Bible into Old Church Slavonic) were taught.

Apart from the church's many reconstructions during the Ottoman Empire, it has recently undergone extensive reconstruction and excavation. Reconstruction started on December 8, 2000 and the physical church was fully reconstructed by August 10, 2002. Most of Saint Clement's relics were returned to the church.A partially ruined bell tower was restored on the right side of the church and the floors of the interior of the church have been reconstructed with marble. Reconstruction was carried out by hand using materials used to build the original church in order to preserve the original spirituality of the church. Machines were only used to polish the interior during the reconstruction of the church. The first excavations of the church were carried out in 1943 by Prof. Dimche Koco. Excavations inside the church have revealed underground tunnels and crypts. Further excavations have been planned to uncover more remains under the church, including more ruins of the Roman basilicas that stood there (the pillars outside the church support the idea of more remains).(from wiki)

Hello Piotr,
Poppies are among the most photogenic flowers, especially in a foreground like this. And when the background is as magnificent as this medieval church (and very impressive clouds behind it) the result is a very attractive composition. The colours, and not just the poppies, are really beautiful.

Hello Piotr,

It is more unusual to have the sharp focus on the b/g but in your photograph, the oof poppies add colour and set the scene for the beautiful, quite complicated design of the church. The colours are well captured.
The clouds make a lovely b/g for the church, in some way, they resemble snowy mountains.

Hello Piotr,
The newly mounted red roof-tiles gave a fine look to the older church edifice, which by itself is an imposing building.
maybe a ladder would help on this POV... but a nice idea to add the red flowers in the FG.

Des fleurs à l'avant plan d'une photo pour moi, c'est toujours gagnant.Surtout lorsqu'elles sont naturelles et multicolores. Mais quand l'arrière plan est aussi beau, c'est magnifique.

A great view of the wonderful church and its many warm colours. The focus on the church is good and the blurry, bright red of the poppies is well included in the foreground along with the other flowers. The large clouds make a great backdrop too.
