The panoramic view of Ohrid. On the hill, the Fortress of the Tsar Samuil.

Ohrid is the largest city on Lake Ohrid and the eighth-largest city in the country, with over 42,000 inhabitants as of 2002. Ohrid once had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a "Jerusalem (of the Balkans)". The city is rich in picturesque houses and monuments. In 1979 and in 1980 respectively, Ohrid and Lake Ohrid were accepted as Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Ohrid is one of only 28 sites that are part of UNESCO's World Heritage that are Cultural as well as Natural sites.

I dreamt about seeing Ohrid for many years, I was happy that finally, I visited this charming city.

Hello Malgo,
I thought that the old parts of Berat and Gjirokaster were nicer than Ohrid, but there is a higher number of interesting buildings in Ohrid. And its situation by the lake makes it unbeatable. You found a very good POV for this photo. The pier, the small boat and the anglers create a very good foreground. The distant view of the old city looks great. The colours and sharpness are very good.

J'aime beaucoup cet endroit. Le quai de pierres est de toute beauté et il nous donne envie de traverser ce bras d'eau pour aller visiter la très belle ville sur l'autre rive.

Hello Malgo,

The old monasteries scattered around the town make Ohrid an interesting destination. The fort is clearly visible here and the fg stone pier adds interest to the shot as well as depth and layering. Excellent sharpness throughout. Tfs!

The wideness of the bay is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the pier, of the boat and in the background the city. The light is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
This must be about the most picturesque view of Ohrid with the old city as a whole.
I had a room somewhere in the upper part quite close to the ancient theatre and the castle. Every night is was a steep climb upwards to my pension :) But it was a very quiet area.
You enjoyed beautiful weather.
