Photographer's Note

Skopje is my birth town.
I will give you a quick tour around Skopje using this panorama. Tour goes from left to right. Please see the large post.
This panorama was taken from the Skopje fortress called Kale and consists of 7 frames. View spans from east to the left to west to the right. More info about Kale fortress you can see here. On this image you can see it's walls.

Modern Skopje

On the left you can see the tallest building in Skopje, which belong to Macedonian TV and is the biggest TV building in the Balkans, having 3000 employes. Closer to us, the reddish/blue building is the state court.
The big white building is the MNT, or Macedonian National Theater, where the ballet and opera are situated.
Between the MNT and TV buildings you can see the University Library.
In the middle of the frame you can see the biggest open place in all towns of the former Yugoslavia, the square "Macedonia", partly covered by the trees.
River "Vardar" flows through the city, you can see it in the middle. On it is the modern bridge called "Goce Delcev" after the macedonian national hero.
The trio of buildings left from the builings belong to MT (Macedonian Telecomunications) and ESM(Macedonian Electrical Company, spelled ECM in cyrilic). The pagoda like building belongs to the MP (Macedonian Post office).
Traffic is relatively busy, despite this being taken on Saturday. But that's the way life is in transition countries like Macedonia.
