‘The setting of the Monastery of Treskavec’

Last time I mentioned that the monastery was largely destroyed by a fire in 2010 and that it was still under rebuilding when I visited in 2018.

Outdoor shots then made little sense. Work was going on about everywhere.
In my previous series I showed some of the beautiful frescoes. This time some pictures of the surroundings in which the monastery was built. If you look closely, you can see the monastery in the distance.

Personally I think the Treskavec Monastery has a wonderful secluded setting.
A small road (not visible in the photos) leads to the entrance. Apart from this road this wasn’t the easiest area to walk in.

The pictures in the WS are somewhat similar to the main photo.

Hello Paul,
It's not immediately easy to discover the monastery high up in the distance, but realizing it is there I must admire the beautiful location once chosen by the monks. They wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the un-godly daily life, and they managed. The photos are relatively similar, but the main photo shows the greatest variety of the landscape, but I also like the many yellowish rocks of WS #1.

Een mooi landschap met de grashellingen met lage struiken en hier en daar wat bloemen gecombineerd met de bijzondere rotsformaties. Uitstekende helderheid en scherpte.

Les montagnes cadrent bien le monastère. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du monastère. La lumière donne un bon rendu aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

It is not easy to spot the monastery. Maybe not such a place like in Meteory but also far away from ordinary life. beautiful landscape with these rocks. Nice flowers in the lower part of the photos. great colours and sharpness.

Technisch perfect opgevat, waardoor alles netjes tot zijn recht komt.

Wow ....... what a spectacular place where this monastery stands, both this sensational image and the other two of the WS give us a clear idea of the spectacular and difficult landscape where it is.

Hi Paul,
Beautiful area indeed. I like very much interesting rock formations. They are so photogenic, and the great weather made their color even more pronounced with fantastic blue sky top accompany them. The vegetation seems to have so many shades of green.
Beautiful place indeed and if you didn't mention the ruins I wouldn't find them.

Hi Paul

When I was there local taxi drivers did not want to go because for years the road was rough and unsealed. For once I got lucky and the road had been sealed and upgraded several months before I arrived. I eventually persuaded a driver that it was now safe to go. Nice distant view of the monastery. Tfs!
