Cast iron monument on top of the tomb of Augustinus and Louise van Valkenstijn
In 2001, this tomb was restored. Also they wanted to see if the coffins still were in the tomb, because there were rumours that they were stolen, these rumour proved to be false. The coffin of Augustinus was still rather intact, the one of his wife had decayed. Also a rumour that Louise Aubry d' Arancey was a child of king Lodewijk Napoleon Bonaparte was proven wrong though DNA research.
This is the only private tomb in Assen.
