Photographer's Note
I showed the main gate of the Kruithuis in my last upload and explained the history a little. This is taken within, looking back at the back gate. The building on the right hand side is where the explosives were stored. The roof is floating, with the belief that had there been another explosion the roof would allow the blast out and upwards.
Today the complex is used by the scouting and there is a small cafe which when opened sells lunches and coffee. I've made a note to myself to return once opened hopefully in the summer.

Hello Elaine,
These buildings are quite pretty and the photo is well composed with a good balance and fine reflections. I get a feeling of looking at one of Vermeer's rare outdoor paintings.
Best regards,
Gert

Goedemiddag Elaine,
Vroeger was er bij ieder stad een verdediging en daarvoor hadden ze buskruit nodig.
U maakt een heel mooie samenstelling met het canon en een schitterend gebouw.
Ook weerspiegeling zorgt voor een mooie voorgrond.
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

Hello Elaine,
Good sharpness and the red and black cannon on the quay adds a nice focal point. Wonderful colour in this attractive historic museum. Tfs!

Hello Elaine, an attractive picture with a good light creating some nice reflections on the water.
The little bits of red somehow brighten the view.
A 'floating roof'? Sounds interesting.
Excellent sharpness.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Elaine, this complex seems in fact very nice as you wrote and a perfect place to spend time in good days,a perfect capture without people inside,a "modern" jump in the past,i like it! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Elaine,
This is a nice follow up to your previous photograph. It is a very well arranged composition, with the trio of buildings neatly related in the space, with the cannon facing the gunpowder building! (Thank goodness there is no gunpowder in it any longer!)
The water and part reflections make a pleasing introduction to the setting.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Elaine
Very nice place and picture. It seems brand new. I like the beautiful windows and the red colos of this cannon and gate are atractive focal points.
Best regards

Hi Elaine,
Lovely place which is obviously full of history. That little is an interesting detail. I wonder why it seems to be targeting towards the building on the right. And of course there's water feature, this being in the Netherlands.

Hi Elaine.
A beautiful composition with these charming buildings, which with the canyon in front reminds us of a fort, ideally reflected in the canal.
Perfect sharpness, lighting and color.
Well done. I like it.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
