Photographer's Note
Tiengemeten is a small island in South Holland. The names comes from a Gemet a measure of about one acre, 10 gemeten around 10 acres.
Until 2007 populated with a few working farms, but since that time the inhabitants of the island have been relocated and the island left to revert back to nature. A small passenger and cycle ferry binds the island to the mainland. Earlier last week we spent a day cycling and walking around the island discovering its beauty, which I will now share with you.
The first post is a derelict house were farm workers would eat and rest during the day whilst working in the fields. there is a small kitchen inside.

Goedemiddag Elaine,
Mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,

Hello Elaine,
Maybe it's slightly sad that this has been left to decay, but there was probably no place for that kind of island in modern society. As yet this hut looks more picturesque than miserable, and it fills its part of this photo well. The light and soft colours were very pleasant that day.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Elaine,
This is a most attractive scene and does seem to fulfil the intention, (discussed in your notes) as reverting to nature. The house is just keeping one eye on the proceedings, until it is no longer needed for evidence, then will be taken over by Nature, like the rest of the small island.
At the moment, it makes a very effective and very interesting focal point, its terracotta roof giving warmth to the scene.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Elaine,
The red tiled roof of the workers hut for meals in between shifts working in the fields, contrasts well with the blue sky and is well placed in the frame. Good sharpness, colour and framing. Tfs!

Hi Elaine,it's a pity that the island is now abandoned, but it's surely nice to visit, because now it seems an open air museum. Beautiful first pic from there with this small eating house of farmers,i like it! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Elaine
It looks like the building is being allowed to rot away. It is a bit of history showing the simple structures used by the farmers. A good interesting photo.

Hallo Elaine,
Een heel mooie foto en een uitstekende compositie. Het kleine oude huisje is mooi aan de linkerkant geplaats zodat er nog veel ruimte voor het zicht op het water is. Ook de lucht met de vriendelijke wolkjes is heel aangenaam.

Hi Elaine,
amazing place to interact with nature and find solitude ands social distancing :)
The house, even though quite damaged adds so much interest to the scene.
The area reminds me a bit the German islands, Friesische Inseln, I have just visited Sylt and Helgoland and they were actually quite busy with visitors but they were still so full of open space and beautiful natural spots.
Very well done,
M

Hi Elaine
Oh, I wish you could have taken or showed us the photos of the interior! I'd love to see the kitchen you mentioned. There's no fence or anything blocking the entrance, I wish I was here to see this in person. what a great looking little scene.
wonderful. cheers
Craig
