Photographer's Note
My last upload from the island of Tiengemeten shows the present inhabitants of the island. Since Tiengemeten was taken over by the Nature Protection Association of The Netherlands and the inhabitants were rehoused on the mainland in 2007, Scottish Highland cattle now roam the island especially the northern part which is called the wilderness. Since they were first introduced their numbers have increased vastly and many have had to be taken to other areas in the Netherlands and Belgium to keep the natural balance in check.
In answer to John's last question: Tourist/visitors are allowed on the island between sunrise to sunset, a small ferry boat ferries a maximum number per day from the mainland. There is a bed and breakfast on the island, as well as a small nature camping for 25 places, both run by the Nature Protection Ass. These people as well as the 17 inhabitants left and the only people allowed to stay the night everyone else has to be on the last boat back.

Hello Elaine
The rust red fur of the Scottish Highland cattle contrasts well with the blue sky. I like the minimalist composition of just sky grassy fg and the bull. Tfs!

Hello Elaine,
She, maybe he, looks friendly enough, but those long and sharp horns would make me anxious not to annoy her/him in any way. You probably took this from a suitably respectful distance. It's a pleasantly simple composition and the colours are very nice, especially that lovely fur.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Elaine, very peaceful place for these animals coming from Highlands, the land is flat and not full of hills like in Scotland, but maybe better, great capture and interesting note about the way to visit the island too. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Elaine,
Well, your photograph reveals the quality of the life style being enjoyed by the Highland Cattle, this one looks totally contented!
The shaggy coat and the extended horns make this breed of cattle stars to photograph, and you have captured these details with excellent clarity. (Don't you just love its toes peeping out!)
It's a nicely composed photograph, the cow strongly placed in the frame.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Elaine, Highland Cattle are such beautiful creatures, and this one is a fine example.
Very sharp focusing on the beast, which is even more evident in the large version.
I like the composition which shows a little of the island as a background.
Kind regards, Jean.

Goedenavond Elaine,
John

Hello Elaine,
This is a lovely cattle portrait. This particular fellow looks comfortable with the camera; maybe he's modeled for other visitors before. :-) I like the landscape, too. Take care!

Hi Elaine,
what a charming "portrait" of the huge bull. They are so hairy and that makes them very photogenic.
You have nicely placed this one off the centre in the frame. Incredible feeling of desolation with no people in sight and that in one of the most densely populated countries in Europe,
Very well done,
M

Hi Elaine,
The animal is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the details of the Scottish Highland cattle. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.
