Photographer's Note

Utrecht University Library from the inside.

Utrecht, where I study, the Hogeschool (college/university) and University of Utrecht have combined their powers a few years ago to build this new campus-like neighbourhood in Utrecht called De Uithof. Most faculties are located in this area, as well as the university's Medical Centre (UMC Hospital) and students housing (in progress). Almost all buildings have great architerctural value (as I have been told) and some of them have won architechtural awards, just like this library. Needless to say I will take some more photos in De Uithof in the future.

Everytime I walk in this area and have a look at this buildings the word "Brain Factory" pops up into mind, because this is where people are molded to become docters, lawyers, anthropoligists, politicians, teachers, philosophers, economists, pedagogues, and maybe even very good marketeers (like I hope to be some day).

This photo was taken from the 7th/top floor. Because of the many patios and voids between the different floors, the building looks very open and wide on the inside. For those who rather study in a more quiet and private area there are some closed and private rooms on the top floors.
I like the way you can get a glimpse of the other floors from this POV. You can see people working on what I believe is the 5th floor (not sure), but you can also look further down. In this shot you can also see a girl in a red shirt on the 2nd or ground floor studying (upper middle/right).

Personally I like the geometry in this shot, though I wonder if I could've taken this shot from a different angle to create more depth.
Please tell me what you think.

Utrecht University Library fact:
In 2004 the new University Library opened.
The building (designed as a citadel - more about that later) was designed by Wiel Arets.
