The little mountain chapel, a photo from Oppland, South

Photographer's Note

In our little valley only some 80 people lives here all year round. But there are many cottages and holiday houses, most used in the holiday seasons.

A little chapel is raised by the people living here. There is no priest in the valley, but he will visit from time to time coming in from one of nearby churches.

Even if the little belltower was in shadow I liked this version of the chapel, including the frosted tree in the foreground.

Interesting note, and an insight into the way of life here. Coming from a country where around 15% of the Christian population are regular church attenders, it seems amazing the such a small community would go to such lengths. Good use streetlight here.

I really like the contrasting colors here.
For the compo I would prefer a less tight crop with a bit more space in front of the chapel.

A nice and soothing motive for the weekend, Jack. The evening light and the dark blue sky give a good moody element, and the exposure is well handled to render a "warm" ambience despite the frosted branch and roof. Good use of the 18mm, and no need to correct the wide-angle leaning verticals.

Hi Jack,
This makes me think of a Christmas card! What I like most here is the wonderful deep blue sky that really contrasts with the warm light on the chapel. Good compo with the tree in the foreground.
