Espalamaca & MobyDick Sailing, a photo from Acores, Islands

Photographer's Note

This is a Picture taken from the "Fisherman Boat" on my return to Horta Marina after a morning at the Sea Channel between Pico and Faial Island at Azores.

IMPORTANT One: This is dedicated to all TE members that like Sea and boats and particulary to FEATHER and WESWANG that have two coments asking for pictures in boat motion with some sea-boat foaming in my perspective and side. You can also look my WS's as complementary pictures.

Miss KATH known by nickname FEATHER says in my previous post "The post shows the foaming of the boat and that she would like to see a speedboat coming into the frame, what could be magic." This one is not so speedy!

Mister WES by nickname WESWANG in another previous picture that I post about a PICO view from boat says "I like more one of the WS because you have the vertical format and the foaming wave".

IMPORTANT Two: So I decided to post this one by now. Sureally I have a few more posts in future, but my thanks to both for their vision, opinion and friendly words at the TE TOS Spirit.

TECHNICAL Notes and Information: This was taken after one hour of Midday, the weather was good, the Sun was near my right 120 degrees and it was a few brighty moment.

ISO=97, Focal Lenght=92mm with a very little lower cropping, a smell of Hue after reduction for post and of Neatimage filtering in the sky.

IMPORTANT Note: In my Photo Information YOU have a Travelogue of my voyage and two WS-Workshops. The two are different near local situations minutes before this post with the same in mind. To catch boats in front of me and travelling in a tilting motion boat and sureally without any security chair with bell or nautical tripoid!

These beautiful Islands are located in the vast Atlantic Ocean somewhere half a way between Europe and North America. They are natural and preserved nature wonders that have Sailors, Solitaire navigators and important world tourism and preserved Sportiv Game-Fishing with people linked to United States, Canada, Brazil, Europe and also naturally to Continental Portugal.

Hi Fernando, Good dynamic shot. The water drop in foreground show that you were on a moving boat yourself while taking this picture. A well composed picture with good contrasts.

Thank you Fernando for the mention and thought. This is a very serene image. Many years ago there was a TV series I used to watch about sailing boats and I can hear the theme music as I look at your wonderful photo.

Avec vous c'est sûr, il n'y a pas de tricherie ! ;o) Vous montrez le réel, ces petites taches blanches prouvent bien que vous êtes sur le bateau et non pas derrière une table, tranquillement installé à une terrasse d'un café. !

Looking to the alternatives I think this one sure is the one to prefer. Based on the more closeness between the boats and better use of the included details. Maybe the drops there is mostly good for the notes as they become more a 'strange' detail in the compo - but still adding some life and underlining speed..

Fernando, nice panoram and the horizon looks very well. I like the background with that mountain, the divisions were very nice with the green saturated color of the ground. The boat is very interesting too.

Estou surpreendido com tanta e tão boa informação, para além das belas fotos extra em WS! O tempo de input de uma fotografia sua deve ser bastante superior à média...
Esta foto parece-me constituir uma excelente homenagem a todos os apaixonados pelo mar e velejar.
Dá para perceber o movimento do barco e apesar das dificuldades inerentes a uma foto deste tipo, parece-me muito bem conseguida, com a Mobydick muito bem apanhada e definida!
Gosto bastante da espuma à frente e do belo cenário típico dos Açores.

hola fernando, el polarizador es nuevo? o ya lo tenias. solo ahora que repare en las ultimas fotos que estaba incluido dentro de tu equipamiento. Esas pequeñas gotitas de agua no afectan a la composicion. por el contrario adicionan unos toques de brillo. me gusta la escala. ya que hicistes una buena aproximacion del velero. dificil toma sobretodo si estas en movimento. muy bien lograda. saludos, gabriel.

Je ne me lasse pas de voir ces photos de vacances.
La composition est très intéressante, cependant le voile atmosphérique chargés de rayons ultra violets contribuent à l'apparition de cette légère dominante bleue. Voir WS.

Olá Fernando!
Felizmente o filão das fotos dos Açores ainda não secou, para felicidade de todos nós. Como apaixonado pelo mar, as imagens com este elemento têm sempre para mim um significado especial e esta não foge à regra. O sentimento de aventura e de liberdade está bem patente neste registo. Quase se consegue sentir o cheiro da maresia e os pingos da água que se observam em primeiro plano deslizando na pele queimada pelo sol... Grande definição e grande enquadramento com os três elementos em destaque, desfrutados em toda a magnitude pelos motivos humanos. Uma foto relaxante... Grande abraço!

Hi Fernando,
This is a composition with interesting tensions. One can feel the great pull to the sailing boat from the edge of the frame on the right while the Espalamaca is trying hard to hold it back. It makes this scene exciting like a tug-of-war. The white foams spring some surprise to the viewer. Well done!!
