Photographer's Note

NOT the WORLD's most EXCLUSIVE pool BUT ...
After reading this article you'll know what is the world's most exclusive swimming pool, according to the measurable criteria that I mention below.

Introductory note: the meaning of EXCLUSIVE in the article's title
"Privately owned" is explicitly mentioned in text. This implies that the most common meaning, "excluding or not admitting others", is also part of it.
As for the criteria used to tell which swimming pool is the WORLD title holder, it's based on LOCATION, starting with: 1. CLIMATE; 2. seclusion.
EXCLUSIVE in the context of CLIMATE has a different meaning: "restricted to an area".
This said, you should also be aware of this: the world's mildest climates are also the most exclusive.
In other words: "restricted" is not primarly meant as "because of expense" but rather connected to TRUE LUXURY, which mildest climates have always been part of, unlike for instance security.
To illustrate it using this last criterium: no need to lock doors would be valued the highest (in 1990 that was still the case in some areas of Sao Miguel).

The pool in the photo
If I Google images for Ponta do Garajau, Ribeira Quente, then (as of today) the pool in the photo will be among the results I'll get.
It's obviously NOT the world's most exclusive swimming pool.
In fact it's crazy that it exists, at one of the slopes more exposed to landslides.
To get just how crazy the story is: the house got a building permit a few years after the deadlliest landslide ever recorded in the Azores, at a slope with the same extreme gradient just a few hundred meters away.

The world's most exclusive swimming pool
Ponta do Garajau, Ribeira Quente, is geographically a peninsula consisting of only one property, more precisely the privately owned estate which the most exclusive swimming pool in the world is part of.

The incredible link to the pool in the photo explains the word "BUT" in title
There seems to be no logic way to complete the title, once you are aware of the extremely dangerous location of the pool in the photo.
Yet there is indeed a completion key: ... BUT the geographically closest.
Incredibe yet true: the pool in the photo is a few hundred meters away from:
- not only the site where 29 people perished within seconds under the mud in 1997 ...
- but also from the privately owned most exclusive swimming pool in the world.
What better illustration that climate is the main but not the only factor for dramatic contrast between two nearby locations in the Azores?
Note: mudslides are also mainly explained by climate but this is not relevant in this context, since both locations have the same climate.

So where's the photo of the WORLD's most EXCLUSIVE pool?
Google images of its location and it will be (as of today) part of the first batch of results (same as the closest pool).
Note about the displayed photo ...
It doesn't show the seclusion factor that decisively contributes to its world title:

The world's mildest climates are also the most exclusive.
For explanation see "Azorean Riviera" or "World's Mildest Climates".
