Photographer's Note

Sete Cidades with its twin lagoons is probably the most photographed place in the island of Sao Miguel. On this day there was a strong overcast and spurts of rain surprised us on and off. I stood on the ridge along with other tourists looking at the lagoons quite sad because it was just dreary, so I decided to cross the street and looked at the other side of the ridge and this was the other side. The Atlantic and this fence.
Living in an island teaches people how to be resouceful and in Sao Miguel to a certain extent it would considered foolish and waasteful to cut wood to build a fence when bamboo grows wild and it is easily cut.
Photo was slightly cropped, layers, auto levels, contrast.
