Photographer's Note

Tha Glacier Valley of Zêzereit is the largest valley glacier in a straight line across Europe. There are 13 kilometers of mountains, coined by the ice from 20,000 years ago, which today runs the Zêzere. Valley falls in the highest mountains in mainland Portugal.

Go down to the area where now stands the village of Butter, one of the most scenic mountain roads of the country. The last glacial were the Nave de Santo António, Covão Ametade and Candieira Valley. The Zêzere born there, at the foot of Cântaro Slim, one of the great rivers of Serra da Estrela - the other is the Mondego.
