Photographer's Note
Just like in many other Portuguese towns, Torroselo (a small town near the Estrela Mountain), also has a Porridge Feast. This one takes place every year in May. According to the legend, this tradition started several centuries ago and it's in honour of St. Martin, to thank him for helping the people getting rid of a plague.
Some days before, the locals prepare the porridge with corn, goat milk and sugar and, on the day of the feast, the women go in procession carrying the trays with the porridge, decorated with flowers. After the blessing, they give the porridge to all the locals and visitors present.

Hello Ana,
Nice capture from this local feast. My favorite detail is this little boy in red, who most probably did not know what's going on !
TFS and have a nice weekend

Ola Ana
This looks like the start of fine series of pictures. I am already wondering where the line leads to...
Good shot, lots of room for the church in the bg, but it's the line of people that makes the shot.

Hello Ana,
You seem to have a lot of original festivals and celebrations in Portugal. Here it seems that everyone prepares porridge, and then they all go to the church and eat each others' same kind of porridge ;-). It's a very nice photo of the long line of persons carrying the plates adorned with flowers on their heads.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Ana,
Pourquoi se servir de ses bras quand on peut prendre sa tête. Une procession très intéressante et un cadrage qui fait penser que tu en fais partie.
Amicalement

Ola Ana,
what a lively, dense document of confession and faith in daily life! The faceless women, and the little boy in red...

Hello Ana,
It's the first time I hear of a Porridge Feast.
The help to get rid of a plague may of course be commemorated.
Beautiful decorations with floral arrangements.
Good to have included the bell tower.
Best regards, Paul

Oi, Ana!
É uma tradição bem interessante e que eu não conhecia. A sua foto ficou muito boa, com as mulheres enfileiradas criando uma linha diagonal e também profundidade. As bandeirinhas são bons detalhes.
Boa foto!

Hello,
Nice festive scene from that town. The Northern part of Portugal is more authentic and traditional in my opinion. And it's a great thing!
